Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
Optional: 1 cup chopped pecans or semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
6. Stir in pecans or chocolate chips if using.
7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets.
8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are just set.
9. Cool for 5 minutes on tray, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
To freeze: Scoop dough onto tray, freeze, then transfer to bag. Bake straight from frozen with 1–2 extra minutes.
