Oh my! This sounds divine! Enjoy this light dessert with the flavors of the holiday seasons. Aromatic sweet spices give great taste to these stove-top cooked pears and to the spicy syrup created by Judith Jones for the McCormick 2003 Best Holiday Recipe Contest and tinkered with by me! -- posted by mama's kitchen

A simple recipe to make a small batch of syrup. Easy to change flavors by changing the flavoring added. You may use corn syrup interchangeably for the molasses. -- posted by Vyrianna

This was one of Emeril Lagasse's recipes, but he has since changed it. I love this version! I make it every year for Christmas, and my family looks forward to it. It is pretty easy to make, and I use my Belgium waffle maker, with the crisp option. It is so bad for you, but it is worth the splurge once in a while. -- posted by nickie409

This was the syrup I grew up with. It tastes fabulous without all the extra work on getting real tapped maple syrup. It's also a cheaper way to have syrup, as these are things I always have in my cupboard.

This recipe makes an intensely flavoured syrup from just the quantity of lemons you have on hand. No messing about with fixed measurements. We were working in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa for a while and our rented house had a lemon tree that had bushels of lemons. We were told about this recipe by locals. Its almost too simple but it really works! The quantities shown in the ingredients are only there to give you an idea. The real measures you work out from the directions. -- posted by The Dabb

This recipe was part of an email today from Cooks Illustrated: "It's hard to improve on maple syrup and a pat of butter atop steaming waffles or pancakes, but if you're looking to spice up your short stack, this variation using apple jelly and cinnamon is sure to please." -- posted by senseicheryl
