This recipe was in the August 2008 issue of Gourmet. My husband who doesn't like pastries and sweets even said these were very good and ate half of them! They are easy to make and other dried fruits could easily be substituted (I was thinking cranberries or blueberries would be good). I didn't use cake flour but made a substitute that is 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour and 1/4 cup cornstarch to make 2 cups "cake flour substitute." -- posted by Little Suzy Homemaker

Need to use up some starter? This recipe is perfect! Recently, I was looking for some way to use up excess sourdough starter rather than my usual go-tos for pizza crust and pancakes. I came up with this cinnamon-y recipe. My kids went nuts over it. I like it because it is not too sweet. You don't taste the sourdough. I think the next time I make these I'm going to use them for Strawberry Shortcakes - yum! -- posted by Wendy H

I found this in the January/ February 2008 Vegetarian Times magazine. The dough can be made a day ahead, refrigerated, then baked for hot scones in the morning. -- posted by Chef Catherine Hofstad
